Five pottery approaches in three communities in northwestern Mexico

Abstract

Memory of the North is a situated exploration of certain pottery practices in northwestern Mexico. It is a multimedia exhibition project born of a personal desire to understand the current state of pottery practices in the region—as well as the knowledge and relationships that sustain them—beyond their dimension as mere objects. It does not seek to construct a comprehensive representation or establish a definitive perspective on this territory, but rather to open a space for recognizing some of the knowledge, relationships, and ways of making that shape it. What is gathered here is an open-ended approach that acknowledges how this knowledge continues to transform, shift, and take shape in relation to the people who sustain it.
