Knowledge management models: Japanese vs. western culture.

This article identifies the importance of knowledge management (KM) in modern organizations, especially in the context of globalization and competitiveness, understanding the importance of its most important intangible resource, which is knowledge, since it becomes a fundamental pillar to maintain a competitive advantage. Besides identifying and differentiating the Japanese model of Nonaka and Takeuchi and the Western culture model, which is Wiig's model, besides seeing how the model is applied in two companies of each culture respectively, where the processes of innovation, learning and knowledge structure are identified to generate an added value to organizations such as Toyota and Pfizer.
