Digital preservation policy

Revista Nodo is committed to ensuring the long-term accessibility and integrity of its published content through multiple preservation strategies.

1. Legal Deposit
Printed & Digital Copies: All issues are archived with the National Library of Colombia (Biblioteca Nacional de Colombia) as part of the country’s bibliographic heritage.
Purpose: Complies with national preservation mandates and safeguards against data loss.

2. LOCKSS System
Partner: Integrated with the LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) program, developed by Stanford University Libraries.
How It Works:
–Creates distributed, permanent archives across global libraries.
–Regularly validates content against other archives to detect/correct corruption.
–Allows restoration of lost/damaged materials from redundant copies.

Access: LOCKSS Publisher Manifesto.

3. PKP Preservation Network (PN)
Platform: Hosted on Open Journal Systems (OJS) (PKP).
Preservation Features:
PKP PN: Free, decentralized archiving for OJS journals meeting basic criteria (Learn more).
Automated Backups: Encrypted, geographically distributed storage.

Why This Matters?
Anti-Obsolescence: Mitigates risks of link rot or platform failure.
Global Redundancy: LOCKSS and PKP PN ensure multiple backup copies.
Compliance: Meets international standards for digital preservation (e.g., TRAC-certified systems).

Author & Reader Benefits
Guaranteed Access: Content remains available even if the journal ceases operations.
Citation Stability: DOIs resolve permanently to preserved copies.
Transparency: Readers can verify content integrity via LOCKSS.

Compliance
All content is preserved in at least two systems (LOCKSS + PKP PN).
Metadata is harvested by CrossRefLatindex, and other databases.

Report Issues: Contact revista.nodo@uan.edu.co for broken links or archival errors.
