Ethical oversight policy
Revista Nodo strictly adheres to the Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). This policy ensures integrity at every stage of the editorial process, from submission to publication.
Key Principles
1. COPE Compliance
• All editorial practices align with COPE’s 16 Core Practices and flowcharts for resolving ethical dilemmas.
• Cases of misconduct (e.g., plagiarism, data falsification, authorship disputes) are investigated using COPE’s standardized protocols.
2. Areas of Oversight
• Authorship: Verification of contributions via CRediT taxonomy and ICMJE criteria.
• Peer Review: Double-blind process with conflict-of-interest declarations from reviewers.
• Data Integrity: Screening for fabricated, manipulated, or misrepresented data (using tools like Turnitin or Forensic Image Analysis).
• Post-Publication Corrections: Transparent handling of errors/retractions via COPE’s Retraction Guidelines.
3. Reporting Ethical Issues
• Concerns may be submitted to revista.nodo@uan.edu.co with:
–Subject line: “Ethical Concern – [Manuscript ID]”.
–Detailed evidence (e.g., text similarities, conflicting interests).
• The Editorial Committee will:
–Acknowledge receipt within 5 business days.
–Resolve cases within 30 days (complex cases may require longer).
4. Sanctions
• Minor breaches: Corrective actions (e.g., citation fixes, authorship adjustments).
• Major breaches: Manuscript rejection, retraction, or public notice of misconduct.
• Repeat offenders: May face submission bans (1-5 years) or institutional notifications.
Why This Matters?
• Protects scholarly integrity across disciplines.
• Standardizes responses to ethical challenges.
• Builds trust with authors, reviewers, and readers.
