En este artículo se muestra el creciente interés por los beneficios respaldados científicamente de una poderosa herramienta de entrenamiento mental, emocional y de desarrollo del ser, conocida como meditación y, algunas veces, como Mindfulness. Para hablar de estos beneficios encontrados se hace una breve explicación de la historia de la meditación en Occidente y de la historia de la investigación sobre este tema, donde se deja ver la enorme explosión de investigaciones que se genera cuando empieza a develarse su potencial para mejorar la salud física, mental, emocional, cognitiva y social de los individuos que la utilizan.
